Do I have a Cluster Fly problem?
Cluster Flies become a problem around September to October as the climate cools and the flies head indoors to find a place to hibernate, and also around March to april as the climate warms at which time the flies come out of hibernation. The cause of cluster flies is not due to rotting foodstuffs but due to their need to hibernate during the colder months.
Cluster flies are approximately 8mm long and dark grey.
Cluster flies will access your property through cracks and crevices, doors and window frames and under roof tiles.
Cluster flies are a recurrent problem due to scent markers left from previous hibernating flies. The scent markers are used as an indicator for the hibernation space for use during future winters.
