Do I have a Carpet Beetle infestation?
The Carpet Beetle is a common textile pest of the home where central heating provides a uniform heating and fitted carpets provide habourage for undisturbed breeding.
The beetles are approximately 4.5 - 6mm, oval and mottled brown grey and cream ladybird like beetle.
The larvae are 1.5-4mm, quite hairy and tan in colour. They are known as wooly bears.
Carpet beetles do not carry disease, however the activity of the Larvae (wooly bears) cause damage and can ruin carpets and leather.
